Vivibot

A chatbot that taught positive psychology skills to young adults with cancer, built with the survivors it was meant to help.

What Vivibot was

Vivibot, or Vivi for short, was a chatbot for adolescents and young adults who have been through cancer. Through short conversations, guided reflection, and videos of young survivors sharing their own stories, it taught evidence-based positive psychology skills that can help ease stress and lift mood.

It was co-created by a team of young adult cancer survivors working with Hopelab, a social innovation lab focused on young people’s wellbeing.

Joining Gryt

In October 2019, Gryt Health brought Vivibot into the Gryt community app. Vivi moved off Facebook Messenger and became free to Gryt members at any time on mobile and desktop, alongside the peer chat and live programming survivors were already using.

Where it was recognized

Vivibot was listed as a resource by cancer centers, bereavement services, and young adult cancer organizations, and it has been cited in academic research on health chatbots. See our publications and media coverage.
