In recognition of Multiple Myeloma Awareness Month, we are partnering with The Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation (MMRF) to bring you the latest information on treatments, research and resources for Multiple Myeloma. MMRF is dedicated to discovering and advancing a cure for every single multiple myeloma patient. This interactive session will highlight the ways multiple myeloma is treated and patient resources that MMRF provides, such as research programs.

Speaker - Mary E. DeRome, Director, Medical Communications and Education, The Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation

Mary DeRome joined the MMRF as Translational Research Manager in February 2014. In this role she was responsible for managing the MMRF research grant programs and helped manage the MMRF CoMMpass study, an 8 year observational study of over 1000 Multiple Myeloma patients, as well as a number of other MMRF precision medicine initiatives. In 2017 Mary was promoted to Director of Medical Communications and Education, where she plans and oversees all MMRF patient and professional education initiatives and is responsible for scientific content on the MMRF website, press releases, and social media channels. Prior to her current position, Mary spent twelve years as a Senior Investigator in small molecule oncology drug discovery at Bayer HealthCare in West Haven CT and seven years as Senior Scientist in nanotechnology vaccine development at Artificial Cell Technologies in New Haven CT. Mary received her BS in chemistry, did graduate work in Pharmacology, and received her MSc in Cell and Molecular Biology from the University of Connecticut, Storrs CT/University of Connecticut Health Center, Farmington CT.
